Bendigo - Snacks and Play Dept.
Katie - Snacks and Paranoia Dept.
Mike - Attitude and Snacks Dept.
Please meet "The Crew".
First is my husband Mike, who with his short list of duties has plenty of leisure time. Among other things he is the business manager, photographer, computer support, web master, short order cook (when I've lost myself in my sewing room), collaborator, woodworker, blacksmith, metal worker for the Folk and the in house critic......but most importantly he is my best friend.
Next is Bendigo. He is a black and tan German Shepard who is in charge of all things fun and, of course, snacks. He makes sure Mike and I get some valuable time out in the backyard. He insists on bringing back that silly ball that keeps jumping out of our hands. He continually finds all mundane details of life both amusing and extremely interesting. He works cheap….biscuits and an occasional bowl to lick.
Last but certainly not least is Katie. She is a white German Shepard who is in charge of security and..... snacks. She obtained her job due to her being born with the innate sense that all is not safe with the world and that most things are in fact out to get her/us. Endowed with this keen sense of paranoia she can be found barking the alarm anytime anything is out of place or moving without permission. When life gets to be too much she can be found asleep in the only truly safe places in the world under the coffee table or behind Mike's chair.
Bendigo and Katie offer extremely valuable technical support when I need to know how many teeth animals have between their canines or how their cheeks turn up when smiling. Perhaps you might recognize the Bendigo smile in some of my teddy bear Folk. The four legged people offer insight into complex issues like how the hairs lay in between toes when I'm making trapunto paws. They just don't realize they are modeling as teddy bears. Of course they are always at my side for a pet and their support is invaluable.
Sincerely.
